Saturday evening we’ve been watching Pouta with my girlfriend, a film directed by Radim Špaček, and despite it’s initial tempo we liked it very much in the end, and yesterday evening I was confronted with him personally by coincidence when I was asked to comment a couple of advertisements for campaigns fighting against the HIV virus and AIDS. Shot for the Q magazine for Czech Television, you can watch how hard it is to shoot a good commercial about AIDS on 30th November on ČT2.

The Prostitutes: Hometown Zombies (2010) CD

Todays demo is epic. Something truly eighties, but a bit more chemical than regular OMD or Vangelis. It must be probably the loneliness, rain and strange kind of summer. You can say: Hey, but that description fits New Order perfectly. Yeah… Starring the infamous TAL-synths (U-NO 62 and BASSLINE), again. It’s called “Shine On”.

Today I visited my parents and I found my dad’s 40 years old Praktica LLC camera he gave me many years ago as a gift. Soon I bought my first digital photo-camera and limitations caused by the 35mm film sent Praktica to oblivion. More than 10 years later I opened heavy-dusty leather-plastic pouch and found a beautiful photo-camera with a lens and a big piece of our family’s history firmly transferred onto its ground glass. I felt tempted and I decided to buy a bunch of films and give it a try after all these digital years. Inspired by all these iphone apps imitating the chemical look of old photo prints I expect Praktica to bring some more character to my pictures. And some more photo skills too as it is not as idiot-proof as my Nikon D80. But it is way more beautiful and solid.

Koncert Emiliany Torrini byl zřejmě pro někoho koncertem roku. A to máme teprve leden. Nová, jiná nebo také řekněme dostupnější, levnější Björk – tak by se dalo vyložit reklamní sdělení na tento koncert v Akropoli, který přilákal jak její oddané fanoušky, tak lidi, kteří slyšeli právě na tenhle “sounds-a-like” marketing. Emiliana ovšem nejen, že splnila to, že zní jako spousta jejích islandských kolegyní, ale předvedla ve výsledku takovou pěknou islandskou ospalou nudu. V první půlhodině by se dala považovat za melancholii, ale po hodině už bylo jasné, že to je buď póza, producentská neschopnost nebo smutný osud. Asexuální (zbytečně) diblík, který se s každým dalším slovem zřejmě rozplyne jako mořská pěna, mě ani moje kamarády nepřesvědčil ani svými zajímavými texty a tématy, ani relativně příjemnou hudbou. Nakonec jsem si musel položit otázku: Kdyby tahle parta složená z talentovaný, ale vyšinutý holky a víceméně průměrných bigbíťáků, co předstírají umění, byla ze z Plzně, šel bych? Nešel. Protože by mě tahle post-graduální zábava prostě nebavila a věděl bych to možná dopředu, nebo bych nečekal něco extra, protože bych se nenechal nachytat na exotiku. Na svůj koncert roku si prostě ještě počkám.

I started to upload some music and videos, creating my personal/commercial presentation of what I am doing for living and own entertainment.

Today, when I answered my morning load of emails and chatted a bit with friends on skype and ichat, I set up my twitter account, refreshed my facebook status, posted couple of items for sharing, uploaded new sets to flickr, checked up all profiles and pages of my band, updated my vimeo library and scrobbed some tracks to last.fm. But, I felt completely unsatisfied. I miss my blog. I only do two now and none of them is personal. So I decided to do Martin Destroyer’s very own blog again. And this is the first post. And I am feeling slightly better.
